Babies need special care and attention at all times. Time and again, however, us parents will need to rest, and that time sometimes come at the inopportune moment when our babies are still wide awake. A good seat, or better yet, a baby swing can do wonders in this regard. Graco certainly understands this, and their product, the product is deemed as one of the best baby swings out there in the market. It has already garnered some good reviews, but will it be able to hold up to our own scrutiny?
The Graco Swing By Me Portable 2-in-1 Swing, Little Hoot is primarily designed for your baby’s comfort. The reclining seat, which is already comfortable on its own, can be adjusted to three different positions to provide the utmost coziness. It can also be converted from full sized to portable if ever you need to move your baby around the house without removing them from the swing’s seat.
With your infant comfortable in their swing, you will also end up getting the benefit of a rest. While you are still required to keep your eyes on your little darling, at least you get to sit down, relax, or do other things that needs to get done until you need to feed your baby or change their diapers.
The primary feature of the Graco Swing By Me Portable 2-in-1 Swing, Little Hoot is a one-hand, three-position reclining plush seat with a removable head support. Just above this seat are detachable, overhead-hanging plush toys that our baby has had some great fun with.
The seat is nestled in the swing which can be converted to a full-sized version or a portable one, thanks to its extensible legs. It is also hands free and powered by four C batteries. It has multiple-motion swing speeds at just the right, and a five-point harness with fabric covering on the seat ensures that the child is kept in place during swinging. The swing mechanism together with the seat only weighs 13.9 lbs.
Pros and Cons
From what we have experienced using the product so far, we have found that the Graco Swing By Me Portable 2-in-1 Swing, Little Hoot has plenty of stuff that gave it an edge over similar other products. One is the fact that our two-month old simply loves being in there! The swing, moving just at the right pace, keeps her content and quiet. That is until the diaper needs changing and the tummy needs a refill, and we don't even need to take her out of the swing during feeding. It is also very light, easy to store, and, despite being a common subject of complaint, the swing's motors makes so little noise.
Unfortunately, your baby may quickly outgrow this product. We've had a few friends visit to have their kids try the swing out as well, and it just won't swing anymore with babies 13 lbs. and up. We have also found that newborns awkwardly fit into the seat with their chins touching their chests. Although other users have a variety of technical issues with the swing, we have experienced none of those so far.
The swing comes with an obligatory user guide, and it’s not that hard to follow. The assembly guide, however, may come off a little complicated for those who are new to DIY products, given the number of parts to put together. That aside, the guide clearly explains how to use the swing as well as all the dos and don’ts that you need to know before using the product.
At $98.99, Graco Swing By Me Portable 2-in-1 Swing, Little Hoot certainly is a good buy. It is a comfortable tool that can help both you and your baby relax and be at peace for a moment. We’re not inclined to give this product a perfect score due to some technical flaws, however—just a decent 3.5 out of 5 stars.
